Giant Talon 3 27.5" Mountain Bike 2017-Hard Tail MTB Color : Black/Green
The lightweight ALUXX aluminum Talon frame features classic off-road design that’s updated with Giant’s proven 27.5-inch wheel technology. The hardtail frame is designed to optimize the wheel size and its 100mm suspension fork. It’s an ideal choice for aspiring off-road riders looking for a balanced blend of quickness and control on the trail.
The same quality construction is apparent with the new model. Its components are centred on a light and durable aluminium (called ALUXX by Giant, you’ll see the decals) frame. Because it is a recreational level mountain bike, you don’t need to be super fit or experienced to ride; it’s great for adults looking to get back into riding or teenagers who are in need of a decent upgrade for school trips or general riding.
A Shimano 24-speed drive train is used on the Giant Talon 3 2017. The drive train sits in the middle of Shimano’s recreational range; making it perfect for smooth off road terrain, and the occasional bumps and impacts from small tree roots and rocks should you feel adventurous.
The gears are very easy to operate, especially with an indicator on the handlebar and 2 paddle levers. Each paddle goes into either a harder gear or easier, and as long as you follow proper shift procedure, gear changes are relatively smooth.
SR Suntour XCT fork helps suspend the front of the bike for a smoother rider. Although fine for smooth unsealed surfaces and entry level mountain biking, it is not a fork that is designed for harsher off-road conditions.
The SR Suntour fork also features a lockout suspension lever that allows riders to effectively lock the suspension out when not needed, such as on smooth road surfaces, making the bike that little bit easier to pedal.
Hydraulic disc brakes are getting very prevalent throughout the industry. There are a number of reasons why. Hydraulic disc brakes required less maintenance over time compared with mechanical brakes (tick!), they need less force at the brake lever to stop (good for small hands in particular) and they are less prone to being affected by mud, grit, dust, water and heat.
he Talon 27.5 3 2017 rolls on Maxxis Ikon tyres. It’s so good to see a name brand tyre manufacturer at this price point because it makes a big difference to how the bike rolls, grips and tracks. The Ikons are the best all round tyres in Maxxis’s range and are suitable for a range of different conditions such as hard pack, loose over hard pack and wet conditions.
